Prevent COVID-19: Researchers Recommend Clinical Trials For CBD

When the global pandemic first hit at the end of 2019, doctors, medical experts, and academic researchers went mad seeking a cure – that one cure that could change the world and make a difference.

But unfortunately, it seemed like there was nothing we could do and that there was no cure. But as 2020 dawned and the deadly impacts of Covid 19 made life hell, the search for a cure only became intensive.

I still remember how there were so many memes and even normal everyday blogs circulating on the internet about the advantages of marijuana in treating Covid 19. But then, there was this one meme that mentioned ‘puff, puff, pass,’ and I was shocked!

Yes, marijuana does treat pain apart from just getting you plain high.

But curing Covid? That was a little far-fetched. But then, after some time, I heard about the benefits of CBD in contributing to various health benefits. But what was truly life-changing was how it could contribute to curing Covid 19 in patients.

Let’s find out…shall we?

Preventing COVID-19: Findings By Researchers

The virus that actually causes Covid 19 is known as the SARS-CoV-2. However, there were some studies that showed how the same could be used for blocking infections! So let’s check out what these researchers found out!

What Did The Researchers Do?

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences, National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases sponsored a series of studies a while ago. In the studies conducted in this context, researchers ended up testing the various effects of Cannabidiol on the SARS-CoV-2.

These researchers also checked out how CBD interacted with the concerned virus in both mice and human cells. The National COVID Cohort Collaborative also provided health-oriented data about people who have been prescribed CBD medication for preventing CBD seizures.

In fact, if you are planning to buy cbd oil, then you should be considering it does help with seizures and similar mental health disorders.

What Did The Researchers Find Out?

During the course of the research in both cases mentioned above, it was found that the CBD has protective tendencies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. When researchers introduced the SARS-CoV-2 virus to lung cells of humans under CBD medication, it was seen that the virus was not able to replicate like it usually does in all cases.

The same was seen for the mice. In fact, human patients who were under a CBD-based medication had fewer chances of reporting a Covid19 diagnosis as compared to normal people not under any CBD medication. However, this was not true for people who were suffering from seizures. In fact, it was found that when it was combined with THC, the protective effects of the same were reduced.

So What Does This Mean?

A lot of research, including all clinical trials, was conducted after such facts were discovered. But it is good that it can cure Covid! Think about it. This is good news, and further research can be conducted in the same context to prevent Covid 19 in the future.

After all, CBD compounds might not be a replacement for vaccination, but still, they can provide huge possibilities for treating Covid19 in the future.

And It’s A Wrap!

Now that you have a fair idea about using CBD oil for treating Covid 19, we can hope that sometime in the future, we don’t need to fear the pandemic any longer. There are many ongoing studies across the world at the moment about the same, but nothing has been fixed as of now. So, it’s best to hope that sometime soon, life will be better with CBD in it!
